Karl Jaspers hatte 1962 sich Gedanken dar\u00fcber gemacht, wie man mit Informationen umzugehen hat. Wem man vertrauen kann und was sie konkret bedeuten. Er klagte:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Formatvorlage\">&#8220;Die \u00dcberschwemmung durch Zeitungen und B\u00fccher ist nicht zu umgehen, wenn Freiheit der Information sein soll. Man ertrinkt in der Flut, die als Masse von Unwesentlichem das Wesentliche mit hinwegschwemmt. Manche Unberufene schreiben umst\u00e4ndlich \u00fcber belanglose Sachen, schreiben, um zu schreiben. Zeitungen und Zeitschriften m\u00fcssen st\u00e4ndig in gleichem Umfang gef\u00fcllt werden. Um so wichtiger die Namen von Rang und die bescheidenen, redlichen Schriftsteller, die man bis in die letzten Provinzzeitungen finden kann. Wer liest ohne die Kraft schnellen Findens bei diagonaler Durchsicht und wer die Tagespresse nicht schnell erledigt, der wird \u00fcberf\u00fcllt mit einem Ragout von Themen. Er findet sich am Ende in einem Zustand \u00f6der Leere. Unterm Einfluss der neueren Medien m\u00f6gen sich die Akteure an Anzahl vervielfacht haben, aber das Grundproblem selbst ist offenbar ein altes. Jaspers hatte noch Hoffnung darauf, dass er f\u00fcr den Grad der Informiertheit auch den Informierten selbst mit in die Pflicht nahm.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Formatvorlage\">&#8220;Man kann von einem Informationszustand reden, der zum \u00f6ffentlichen Geist eines Volkes geh\u00f6rt. Nicht nur jeder Informierende, sondern jeder, der sich informieren l\u00e4\u00dft, ist mit verantwortlich. Nur die Frage, ob die Informierten selbst noch den Einfluss haben k\u00f6nnen, an der Selbsterziehung teilzuhaben. Und er sieht auch, dass gegen\u00fcber der Selbsterziehung ein anderer Faktor nach vorne dr\u00e4ngt und sich davor setzt: Macht, das hei\u00dft hier: Geld.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Formatvorlage\">&#8220;Aber sind nicht Vorg\u00e4nge auf ganz anderer Ebene entscheidend? Bestimmen nicht sehr massive Kr\u00e4fte die faktische Information: die Kapitalgeber der Verlage, die Inserenten und die zahlenden Leser? Was an die \u00d6ffentlichkeit gelangt, h\u00e4ngt, direkt oder indirekt, am Geld. Aber es befreit von der Abh\u00e4ngigkeit vom Geld. Ohne Zweifel. Ich denke, mittlerweile ist das transformiert: Das, was Jaspers noch als totalit\u00e4res Regime vor Augen hatte (Nationalsozialismus, Stalinismus &#8230;) ist heute selbst in die Information gewandert. Die Vielfalt sinkt in dem Ma\u00dfe, in dem man meint, sie vergr\u00f6\u00dfere sich. In Wirklichkeit befinden wir uns in einem Reduktionsprozess von Information. In dem Moment, wo immer weniger Orte sie zu konzentrieren versuchen.
