November 1843 abhielt, erz\u00e4hlen die Journale folgendes von der Wohnung der Verstorbenen: Sie hatte in Nr. 3, White Lion Court, Bermondsey Street, London, mit ihrem Mann und ihrem 19j\u00e4hrigen Sohne in einem kleinen Zimmer gewohnt, worin sich weder Bettstelle oder Bettzeug noch sonstige M\u00f6bel befanden. Sie lag tot neben ihrem Sohn auf einem Haufen Federn, die \u00fcber ihren fast nackten K\u00f6rper gestreut waren, denn es war weder Decke noch Bettuch vorhanden. Die Federn klebten so fest an ihr \u00fcber den ganzen K\u00f6rper, da\u00df der Arzt die Leiche nicht untersuchen konnte, bevor sie gereinigt war, und dann fand er sie ganz abgemagert und \u00fcber und \u00fcber von Ungeziefer zerbissen. Wie Freund Stirner sehen die Leute einander nur f\u00fcr brauchbare Subjekte an; jeder beutet den andern aus, und es kommt dabei heraus, da\u00df der St\u00e4rkere den Schw\u00e4cheren unter die F\u00fc\u00dfe tritt und da\u00df die wenigen Starken, das hei\u00dft die Kapitalisten, alles an sich rei\u00dfen, w\u00e4hrend den vielen Schwachen, den Armen, kaum das nackte Leben bleibt.<\/p>\n<p>Und was von London gilt, das gilt auch von Manchester, Birmingham und Leeds, das gilt von allen gro\u00dfen St\u00e4dten. \u00dcberall barbarische Gleichg\u00fcltigkeit, egoistische H\u00e4rte auf der einen und namenloses Elend auf der andern Seite, \u00fcberall sozialer Krieg, das Haus jedes einzelnen im Belagerungszustand, \u00fcberall gegenseitige Pl\u00fcnderung unter dem Schutz des Gesetzes, und das alles so unversch\u00e4mt, so offenherzig, da\u00df man vor den Konsequenzen unseres gesellschaftlichen Zustandes, wie sie hier unverh\u00fcllt auftreten, erschrickt und sich \u00fcber nichts wundert als dar\u00fcber, da\u00df das ganze tolle Treiben \u00fcberhaupt noch zusammenh\u00e4lt.&#8221;
